Int’l Bytes: NEC, Nokia, Infinera, CityFibre

Three vendor wins, a subsea spead trial, and a FTTH update from around the world:

NEC said this morning that it has completed the Patara-2 subsea cable system for Telkom Indonesia. The subsea cable connects the cities of Waisai, Manokwari, and Supiori over on New Guinea, connecting up to the SMPCS cable system and providing the Indonesian province of Papua with important new infrastructure. Meanwhile, NEC also conducted a long distance field trial with their new XF3200 transponder. They achieved an 800Gbps connection over 2,100km span using the Indonesia Global Gateway subsea cable system.
