Standards are an enigma unto themselves, they portend to provide guidance but in reality, are often written but not always by people with vested interests in the outcome, are not practioners themselves or have an ax to grind in regard to a particular issue they want to solve or not. Saying that I am a favor of the approach to standards especially the IETF-internet engineering task force who “is an open standards organization, which develops and promotes voluntary Internet standards, in particular the standards that comprise the Internet protocol suite.
