Tuesday Roundup: Great Plains Communications, Zayo, Green Mountain, GTT

Great Plains Communications has rolled out some next generation packet networking. They are in the process of deploying upgraded the new tech across their full footprint, which spans some 18,000 route3 miles touching 13 states. The upgrade leverages segment routing to enable them to deliver 100G across a wider range of customer use cases.

Zayo has offered up a few details on its upcoming network investments. They are currently upgrading their North American backbone to 400G, a process that is expected to be complete in 2024. In addition they have added multiple PoPs down in Brazil in support of the company’s low latency offerings. Meanwhile they have completed the overbuild of the Omaha-Denver route and added some 8 new PoPs to their IP backbone around North America. Two other longhaul route builds are expected to be complete later this year.
