In another attempt to redraw product lines around wireless sensors that gather data and bring automation into homes and manufacturing, Cypress Semiconductors has agreed to buy Broadcom Limited’s wireless Internet of Things business for $550 million in cash.
Under the terms of the deal, Cypress will acquire Broadcom’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee products and intellectual property, along with the WICED developer platform for creating internet-connected sensors.
