Tuesday Bytes: Sparkle, Infinera, Ribbon, Nokia

Four bits of technology upgrades tapping three vendors both local and international over the last few days:

Infinera’s gear will be getting a workout in Missouri. With the help of BlueAlly, Central Electric Power Cooperative has deployed Infinera’s XTM Series gear on its rural broadband network. CEPC’s energy footprint covers some 22,000 square miles, and its fiber supports both critical infrastructure and middle mile connectivity.

Sparkle is looking to to leverage C+L band technology to boost its global transport network to some 38.4Tbps per fiber pair. They are leveraging tech from both Infinera and Nokia across Europe, the Middle East, and South America. They’ll start in Europe, with Milan-Frankfurt the first project covering 23 major PoPs.
