Securing the network itself is just as important as securing the servers and applications. Automation is an essential component for assuring that the network is safe and secure.
What’s on the network?
You can only manage devices that you know are on the network. Some organizations have processes that include steps to add or delete devices from the network inventory, but these processes don’t necessarily guarantee that all devices are found and registered. For example, the existence of a workplace process doesn’t eliminate the possibility that a device was connected to the network without following the process or without the network administrators’ knowledge.
