A few interesting items to catch up on this week worth noting:
Infinera has achieved a transatlantic first with its ICE6 technology. In a blog post this week the company revealed a successful trial over on the 6640km MAREA cable between Virginia and Spain in which the company achieved a ‘hero’ transatlantic 700Gbps wavelength connection and a total of 30Tbps of connectivity on a single fiber pair. They also demoed a ‘deployable’ result of a 650Gbps wavelength and 28Tbps, which means there’s enough room for error to make it reasonable to deploy in the real world.
