Nokia Partners with Perfectum to Launch 5G Network in Uzbekistan

April 25, 2024

In a significant development for Uzbekistan’s telecommunications landscape, Nokia has struck a key partnership with local telecom operator Perfectum to roll out a trailblazing 5G network. This collaboration symbolizes an essential leap forward in the region’s digital transformation, primarily focusing on the deployment of 5G standalone (SA) solutions. Perfectum will be equipped by Nokia with cutting-edge 5G infrastructure spanning radio access, transport, core networks, and various applications designed to enhance network automation and service orchestration.

The deal will introduce Nokia’s technologies in phases, beginning with Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent. With an initial launch projected for the latter part of 2024, the 5G SA network is expected to unfurl a new era of high-speed internet connectivity for Perfectum’s customers.

Building Foundations for a Digital Future

Underpinning the initiative is Nokia’s Cloud Platform, based on Red Hat OpenShift, a cornerstone technology that ensures a robust core network and seamless application integration. With a vision to expand the 5G network reach across Uzbekistan within two years of its launch, this venture represents a commitment to not just technological upgrades but also to elevating the national infrastructure to international standards.

Perfectum’s CEO, Dmitry Shukov, stresses the transformative impact this project is poised to have, envisioning it as a catalyst for widespread societal and economic shifts. On the side of Nokia, Rolf Werner, Head of Europe for Mobile Networks, promises full support to Perfectum, aiming for consistently exceptional network performance and customer experience. This partnership underlines the embracing of new technological heights by both entities, keen on spearheading the global movement toward widespread 5G adoption.
