How Are Major Players Shaping the Future of Telecom Infrastructure?

Today, we have an in-depth interview with Vladislav Zaimov, an experienced telecommunications specialist renowned for his expertise in enterprise telecommunications and risk management of vulnerable networks. We’ll be exploring recent developments in the telecommunications sector, focusing on partnerships, agreements, and technological advancements. Our discussion includes the expanded relationship between Bloom Energy and Equinix, DataVolt’s agreement with MODON, T5 Data Centers’ funding, Brightspeed’s activities in Indiana, and Arelion’s technology testing with Cisco.

Can you describe the expanded relationship between Bloom Energy and Equinix?

The expanded relationship between Bloom Energy and Equinix involves Equinix utilizing more than 100MW of power from Bloom’s fuel cell technology across 19 of its IBX facilities. Currently, 75MW of that capacity is operational, with an additional 30MW under construction. This strategic move helps Equinix diversify its energy sources away from the conventional grid.

What is the nature of the agreement between DataVolt and MODON?

DataVolt and MODON have entered into an agreement regarding land lease terms. This agreement marks the initial step in DataVolt’s development of a facility spanning 55,000 square meters in the First Technology Park located in eastern Riyadh. DataVolt plans to invest around $5B in developing this facility and enhancing its capabilities in Saudi Arabia.

How much additional funding did T5 Data Centers raise from QuadReal Property Group?

T5 Data Centers raised significant additional funding from QuadReal Property Group, totaling $8B. Initially, QuadReal had invested $2.5B in 2019. This infusion of funds will support T5 Data Centers’ ambitious plans to develop a total capacity of around 5GW across the country, including a new site outside of Chicago.

How many locations across Indiana is Brightspeed now ready to connect? How many markets across the state are included in these connections? How many additional homes does Brightspeed plan to pass over the next several years? How many states does Brightspeed’s footprint cover?

Brightspeed is now prepared to connect 60,000 locations across 30 markets in Indiana. Over the next several years, they plan to add another 65,000 homes to their network. Brightspeed’s expansive footprint currently covers 20 states, reflecting their strategic growth and commitment to enhancing broadband connectivity.

What technology has Arelion been testing with Cisco? Where did Arelion demonstrate the 800Gbps IP transmission? What are the potential capex and opex savings from using 800Gb ZR+ pluggables?

Arelion has been testing Cisco’s 800G ZR+ coherent optical modules. They recently demonstrated an 800Gbps IP transmission over a distance of 1,069 km between Stockholm, Sweden, and Hamburg, Germany. The use of these 800Gb ZR+ pluggables is projected to result in significant capital expenditure (capex) savings of around 66% and operating expenditure (opex) reductions of up to 95%.

Do you have any advice for our readers?

For anyone involved in the telecommunications sector, staying ahead of emerging technologies is crucial. Embracing innovations like fuel cell technology for data centers, coherent optical modules for high-speed transmissions, or strategic expansions in network coverage can provide significant competitive advantages. Always be on the lookout for new partnerships and investments that can help drive growth and improve service quality.
