U.S. official takes leadership position at ITU

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations agency dedicated to information and communications technology standardization, this week elected its leadership at the 20th Plenipotentiary Conference in Dubai. Of note is the election of the U.S.’s Doreen Bogdan-Martin to the role of director of ITU’s Telecommunication Development Bureau, the first time a female has held a top leadership position.

Bogdan-Martin has been with ITU since 1994 and previously worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
