Ciena has unveiled the latest version of its WaveLogic chips, the WaveLogic 5. The new chip will bring 800G capabilities to the company’s coherent optical portfolio, providing programmable capacity in 50G increments over a single wavelength. Gear leveraging the chip is expected to be available in the second half of this year.

H5 Data Centers and Archeo Futurus are teaming up down in San Antonio, Texas. The two have partnered to launch an internet exchange at 100 Taylor Street, which H5 just purchased a few months ago. SAT-IX will initially have access to some 25 carriers in the building, with growth ahead from there.
