MBC has expanded its reach into the Pixel Factory Data Center down in Ashland VA. The new on-net location north of Richmond enables MBC’s customers with improved interconnection and transit options, including direct access to DE-CIX. MBC operates a regional fiber footprint in southern Virginia that spans some 2000 route miles today.

First Electric Cooperative has been busy rolling out fiber in central and southeastern Arkansas. With the help of DZS and Irby Utilities, the electric utility’s fiber subsidiary Connect2First have rolled out some 2,500 miles of a planned 7,000+ mile buildout in an 18 county region of the state. The project puts $17.9M in RDOF funds to work to hook up customers in an underserved region. First Electric wants to reach some 99,000 member accounts as well as all of its own substations.
