Int’l Bytes: Pulsant, Zayo, Cisco, Qwilt, DE-CIX

Over in the UK, Pulsant says it is investing $8M in a new national edge computing network. They have tapped Zayo for fiber connectivity to connect 10 of their data centers together into a new high-capacity network with sub-5ms latency to 95% of the country’s population. Pulsant’s facilities are in Edinburgh, Maidenhead, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Reading, Sheffield, and South London.

Cisco, Qwilt, and Digital Alpha have teamed up to help deploy a new CDN down in Argentina. Telecom Argentina has signed onto the Open Caching solution from Qwilt, leveraging Cisco’s edge compute and networking gear plus funding from Digital Alpha. The new CDN will help handle increasing traffic while reducing costs and pesky things like latency.
