A bit of M&A news, and three vendor network deployment projects:

SEACOM has announced a deal to acquire infrastructure assets from Uganda’s Africell. The pan-African service provider continues to expand its terrestrial footprint, complementing the subsea cable along east Africa that they started with. The purchase includes 760km of fiber in and around Kampala as well as a 250 square meter data center. The company recently also bought a metro fiber footprint in Kenya.

Nokia has signed up Zain KSA for a network enhancement project. The arrangement will see Zain KSA deploy a range of Nokia gear and software to upgrade its infrastructure across Saudi Arabia. They will look to expand coverage and lower latency, leveraging Nokia’s AirScale Radio, WAvence Microwave, NetaAct, and EdenNet SON.
