UK-based BT has announced it has become the first overseas telecoms operator to secure nationwide telecommunications licenses in China.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has awarded a nationwide domestic IP-VPN license and a nationwide domestic ISP license to the operator’s subsidiary BT China Communications Limited.
BT CEO of Global Services Bas Burger said the award of the two value added licenses represents a significant milestone for the operator, and will allow the company to meet its multinational customers’ demands for secure and reliable connectivity to China.
