Orange Launches Pan-West-African Network, Djoliba

Western Africa has long been one of those places in the world where bandwidth comes from the ocean, not the land. Yesterday at the AfricaTech Festival, Orange made a move to change all that by announcing a pan-West African fiber network.

Orange and its subsidiaries launched Djoliba to offer secure connectivity to and within eight countries in the region. It will be operated and maintained from Dakar, Senegal, extending into the landlocked nations of Mali and Burkina Faso, and then to Cote d’Ivoire, and Ghana.
