Operators in South Korea and China embrace network sharing to accelerate 5G deployment
As carriers ready an initial slate of commercial 5G services, it’s apparent that the next-generation of mobile networks will require major capital investment in network densification to deliver on multi-gigabit mobile broadband, support for billions of internet of things devices and ultra reliable low latency communications. Lessons learned from ongoing LTE small cell deployments suggest variability in access to power, backhaul and infrastructure sites makes conceptualizing ultra-dense networks much easier than putting equipment in the field at scale.
