One new subsea cable project, one M&A, and one new partnership:
NEC says it has signed a contract to supply the new EMCS cable system. ECMS, or the East Micronesia Cable System, will connect Pohnpei and Kosrai in Micronesia as well as Kiribati and Nauru further to the southeast, while tapping into an existing cable to Guam and the Marshall Islands. The project is backed by grant funding from the US, Japan, and Australia governments.
