In an effort that puts all of its AI assets into one basket, Qualcomm Technologies Thursday announced the formation of a new research organization.
The Qualcomm AI Research division is a cross-functional, cooperative effort that encompasses all of the AI research that is taking place across the company.
Qualcomm has already tapped into AI for commercial products and applications across smartphones, the automotive industry and internet of things services. By putting all of its AI assets into one organization, Qualcomm is looking to expand AI into new industries, services and applications.
“We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI,” said Jim Thompson, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Qualcomm, in a prepared statement.
